Overview
No Shame On U (NSOU) is dedicated to eliminating the stigma associated with mental health conditions so the people who need help will seek it and so family members and friends will know how to provide proper support and save lives. NSOU achieves its mission through community outreach programs, classes and workshops, an online presence of over 120,000 social media followers, a weekly blog, a podcast, widely distributed fact sheets, crisis information magnets and videos, and educational presentations. NSOU is based in Chicago with a national and international reach throughout the Jewish community and beyond.

NSOU seeks a Director of Development to guide the expansion of the organization’s financial resource development, with the goal of doubling annual fundraising revenue of $300,000+ by building a strong base of major donors. This position will report directly to the Executive Director and work closely with the small and close knit NSOU professional team. The Director of Development’s portfolio will encompass all aspects of annual fundraising, as well as grants and special events.

The ideal candidate will bring a minimum of 5 years of experience in nonprofit development, including individual fundraising, relationship building, and grant writing. This individual will be a motivated and efficient self-starter with comfort working as part of a collaborative team in a grassroots environment.

Compensation Range
$90,000 - $110,000 DOE

Key Responsibilities:
Spearhead and manage a variety of fundraising functions, including creating and executing new initiatives
Formulate and implement deadline-driven fundraising action plans for the full scope of the organization’s development activities
Cultivate and steward current and prospective donors of all levels
Oversee grants management program, ensuring deadlines are met, funder relationships are developed, and new grant opportunities are pursued
Work closely with the board to support fundraising goals and deepen board engagement with development activities
Collaborate with board members and colleagues to identify and cultivate prospective board members and volunteers
Promote a supportive and productive workflow within the team
Contribute toward raising the visibility and public awareness of NSOU through community engagement and outreach opportunities
Attend and represent NSOU at fundraising events, primarily within the Jewish community
Oversee fundraising data management in Little Green Light CRM

Qualifications & Skills:
5+ years of fundraising experience
Proven ability to cultivate and solicit donors at all levels and forge ongoing relationships with prospective and existing donors
Experience and comfort working with high-level donors and philanthropists
Grant writing and research experience strongly preferred
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong organizational skills with comfort managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines
Experience with and knowledge of the Jewish community landscape preferred
Passion for the mission of NSOU; ability to promote and communicate its work and impact to stakeholders
Familiarity with and commitment to the field of mental health a plus
Proactive and self-driven work style
Proficiency with Google Suite and nonprofit CRMs; familiarity with Little Green Light a plus
Goal-oriented and data-driven with strong follow-through
Ability to inspire others through relationships, storytelling, community, and connections
Ability to travel within the greater Chicago area for meetings and events
